SportIT, is a first-of-its-kind two-day sports innovation festival on January 18-19, 2020 in collaboration with the Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, StartUp Odisha, High Performance Centers, higher education institutions and Sports Unlimitech.
SportIT will be hosted at Kalinga Stadium, which was the venue for the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018; the festival is scheduled during the FIH Pro League 2020. The India National Men’s Hockey Team will be playing the Netherlands, in a buildup to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This FIH sanctioned event will be followed by local, national and international press. SportIt would therefore also benefit from the publicity done by Hockey India and would attract the general public drawn to the International hockey matches.
The event will enable sports start-ups from Odisha and across India to engage with the public, showcase their products and brands, and network in a totally innovative way with industry experts, sportspersons, investors .
A one-of-its kind sports hackathon will be launched at XIMB Campus. Under the Indo-French collaboration, Bhubaneswar will kick off this international contest that will involve students from India, France, China, Africa and The Middle East.
The ‘start up village’ set up at the stadium will host seminars and workshops, talk shows with sportspersons, B2B meetings with investors, art exhibitions around sports tourism and culture, sports tournaments for students and much more!
During the Hackathon an Indo-French program in the field of Sport-Tech incubation will be announced. French Sport Tech startups and Indian ones will be offered a collaborative process that will be monitored by emlyon business school Sport-Tech incubator and accelerator.
A specially designed format of games in various disciplines such as football, hockey, wall-climbing, shooting etc. will be hosted at various locations, home to state of the art infrastructure.
